Description

The Laurence stair lamp is a narrow slit of light set into the wall rather than a fixture hung on it. Recessed installation keeps the face flush with the surface, so a staircase or corridor keeps its clean line and the only thing you notice is a low, horizontal band of warm light picking out the treads below. Two sizes are available depending on the width of run you want to light.

The housing is die-cast aluminium in a sleek black finish, strong and corrosion-resistant, which matters for a fixture buried in an exterior wall where replacement means opening the wall again. IP65 sealing handles rain and humid air, so it holds up on terraces, garden steps and exposed corridors as readily as it does indoors.

At 3W it uses very little power for the safety it provides, and the 3000K warm white output is soft and layered rather than bright and flat, which is what you want at ankle height on a staircase at night. The industrial-clean aesthetic works with concrete, brick, render and dark timber equally. Hardwired installation is recessed into the wall structure and should be planned and completed by a qualified electrician.

Is three watts really enough?
