Description

Handmade mulberry paper gives this lamp its character. Washi diffuses the bulb into an even, low-glare glow rather than a hot spot, which is the same reason the material was used in traditional Japanese lanterns. Set on an iron base in black, the white shade reads quiet and warm in a bedroom, a reading corner or beside a low sofa. Each shade is bonded and finished by hand.

Eight sizes are available, from a compact 10.2 by 14.6 inches (26 x 37 cm) up to a floor-scale 33.1 by 47.2 inches (84 x 120 cm), with several intermediate diameters between. Because the shade is bonded by hand, faint glue traces along its edge are normal to the craft and are not a defect.

The lamp is plug-in and takes a standard E26 or E27 bulb, so no hardwiring is needed, and a 59-inch cord with an inline on/off switch is included. If you are wiring the lamp holder, the black wire connects to hole 2 and the white wire to hole 3. It runs on AC 110-240V, is rated IP20 for indoor use, and is certified for North America, the EU, Australia and Saudi Arabia. Handle the paper gently and keep it away from moisture.
