Description

The Bubble Ball takes its cue from George Nelson's 1952 Bubble Lamp series: a white polymer shade on a steel frame with a walnut wood accent and chrome fittings. Four shapes are available, Ball at 11 by 15.7 inches, Round Ball at 11.8 by 11.8 inches, Cigar at 11.8 by 11 inches, and Saucer at 15.7 by 8.6 inches, all in the same finish.

It is a plug-in fixture, so no electrician is needed. Mount the bracket into drywall or studs with the supplied screws, clip the shade on, and plug the 59-inch cord into any standard outlet. There is an inline on/off switch on the cord and a pull-cord switch on the shade itself. Plug types for US, UK, AU and EU are selected at checkout.

A swivel hinge lets you pivot the shade one-handed to aim light downward, sideways or at an angle without taking it off the wall, which makes it useful beside a reading chair, above a desk or next to a bed. The socket is a standard E26 for LED or Edison-style bulbs, not included. Dimming is a build-to-order option from Fenoss. Mount height is up to you, though a position roughly level with the headboard works beside most beds.

Beside a bed, a position roughly level with the headboard works well. Above a desk, mount it high enough that the shade sits clear of your sightline.
