Description

The Tense suspends a cloud-like mulberry silk diffuser in a slim black metal frame, so the shade appears to float above a table or island. The silk is a lightweight, paper-like material, fully recyclable, and spreads light evenly across the pendant's oval form. It is available as a single pendant or in clusters of two, three or five heads. Cluster versions stagger the heads at different diameters, which suits a longer island.

Single sizes run from 15.7 to 47.2 inches in diameter. Most stand 5.9 inches tall, with the 39.3-inch model at 7.9 inches and the 120 cm model at 11.8 inches. Lighting is an integrated LED drawing 20W to 52W depending on size, so there is no bulb to buy or replace. Three light options are offered at checkout: warm light, remote control dimmer, or Triac dimmable warm light.

The Triac version needs a Triac dimmer switch; standard rotary dimmers are not compatible. The fixture is hardwired into the ceiling circuit and a licensed electrician is recommended. The cord adjusts to 59 inches, with longer drops and sloped-ceiling canopies available on request. It suits kitchen islands, dining tables and bedrooms, where a low-profile sculptural shade sits well with wood cabinetry and warm furnishings.
